South Wigston Priority Updates You Said we Did

Dear Members of South Wigston,

Hope everyone is well? I wanted to update you all on the beat priorities we have in your area.

The first Priority you said was Speeding on Dorset Avenue and Gloucester Crescent. Previously speed checks were conducted in the area and with Lockdown has limited the number of cases we had in the area which is good news. Now that Lockdown is coming to an ease we will again review the speeding checks where we will have volunteers and staff to conduct further checks and operations in the near future.

The second Priority you said is ASB and Drug dealing/taking on William Gunning Park in South Wigston. Since the Lockdown there has been a reduced number of ASB cases. We are aware there has been a few incidents so we are keeping this priority open especially that the lockdown is slowly easing and summer is just around the corner. We will have a patrol plan in place and have a dedicated ASB patrol vehicle to monitor events on a daily basis. Please could I ask residents to continue to call us when incidents occur as without your calls we will not know the issues occurring. We are continuing to monitor known youth offenders in the area and recently have arrested and seized a quantity of drugs and cash and gained further intelligence from the arrest which we are actively working on.

The Third priority you said was ASB and Drug dealing/taking near to the Gloucester Crescent Shops which is also in line with our second priority as well.
There has been a few cases even during lockdown of a group causing ASB at the local store on Gloucester Crescent. We are working with local businesses and also with Wigston Oadby Council to assist us in identifying the suspects. We have obtained a number of CCTV images and we are still monitoring the area. Please continue to call us when incidents occur.

On a Separate note we are seeing an increase of Catalytic Convertor Thefts. Majority of the vehicles that are targeted are Honda and Toyota’s. Please ensure that you check your vehicles security system to ensure that it alarms if the vehicle is jacked up. It is worth to also speak to your local garage as some offer to install a cover or plate to either stop or delay the theft from happening.

Finally, could you spare two minutes of your time and click on the link below to conduct a survey of your local area.
