Knife Crime Operation (Leicestershire Police)

Good afternoon Earl Shilton and Barwell.Over the national week of action officers from Hinckley & Blaby NPA have taken part in a number of different activities to identify, disrupt and educate the community about knife crime and the dangers.On Friday 20th May officers took part in proactive patrols across Hinckley & Blaby visiting 11 parks (5 in Barwell and Earl Shilton) to provide High Visibility Policing, complete sweeps of the park for any discarded or hidden weapons and stop and engage with users of the park. As part of their patrols officers carried Knife Wands that allowed searching for weapons a little easier.No weapons were found on our patrols, however Weaver Springs in Earl Shilton led to several people running off and those that were caught were searched and found to be in possession of small amounts of cannabis!Officers had to attend Moore Road, Barwell building site yet again the other day after five youths were climbing the scaffolding. The youths were caught by officers and are being dealt with.At the beat surgery in Earl Shilton the other day we had a few issues raised to us. One of them being about a scam and parking. The parking issue has now been resolved and the car causing the obstruction has been moved back to 10 metres from the junction. The scam… An elderly couple reported to us that a male unknown to them approached them being very friendly offering to clean their guttering for £30. The male agreed to clean the guttering of the front and back of the property. While up on the roof the male claimed that a bird had caused damaged to the tiles which would cost more money to fix. The couple said no they just want the guttering cleaned for £30 and gave the male the cash. The male at this point had not cleaned the rear of the property and within seconds of collecting the money had vacated the property and drove off. Male was described to be driving a land rover type vehicle in a dark colour. Well dressed, dark blonde/brown hair, clean shaved, 5ft 10, stocky build.
