Good News Suspicious Character and Fireworks

Hello,

Good news, no reported burglary, vehicle thefts or theft from over the last week. Please stay vigilant and don’t leave anything on show or lying about, particularly items such as bicycles, cash or high value goods.

Suspicious character seen on Hawthorn Crescent this morning (01/09/2021) at around 03:45. The person arrived in a vehicle and appeared to walk around with a torch (dressed in black with Hi-vis jacket). We have had no reports of crime relating to this but please check your CCTV/door bells to see if you can see the vehicle registration so we can look into it. Just click reply or drop me an email to Darren.stretton@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk

Stop check completed and vehicle seized using DVLA powers on the A5 on 31st August following patrols in the area.

Fireworks and fires

We recently received a report relating to fireworks. Just to clear up, it was possibly a house party near Lychgate Lane/Church Street area. Fireworks often get a mixed response from residents as they can cause issues with mental health, animals or children. They are also used by people to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries of loved ones that have passed amongst other occasions. I have provided a few links that may be of help with rules. Some people love them, some people hate them but please try and be courteous to those around you. Let people know, see if anyone has any objections and stay within the rules.

The law says you must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places.
You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except for:
Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight
New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am

Please take a look at the ThinkuKnow website https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ we deal with lots of reports/messages from parents regarding their child’s internet activity. With more and more children and adults using the internet, it is good to take 5 minutes to check out the site. The site is for 4+ to 14+ and for parents/carers.

Thank you and take care.
