Burbage Road Safety Week What Have We Done (Leicestershire Police)

As the darker nights close in, we have been completing some work in Burbage to support National Road Safety week and hopefully educated, supported and reduced the risk of injury in Burbage.

I have attached a Road Safety newsletter i have created which goes into a bit more depth and includes feedback from residents. Please take a look. If you have issues opening the newsletter, click reply an i will directly email it to you.

The work we have done includes visits to Hastings High, Sketchley Primary and Burbage Juniors. We have completed presentations around all sorts of road safety issues including pavement parking, double yellows, bicycle safety, seat belts, hi-vis clothing, electric scooters and much more.

We have supplied local children and residents with free items such as bicycle lights, hi-vis items and general road safety products to improve visibility and raise awareness.

We asked all of the children to feedback subjects discussed to parents to ensure everyone is aware of the potential dangers and to change mind-sets around acceptable behaviour.

We also completed a speed safety event, challenged bad parking and visited residents identified.

Locations visited on this event.

Forresters Road, 84 vehicles monitored, 0 speeding. Fastest speed 27Mph.
Hinckley Road, 221 vehicles monitored, 4 speeding, caught between 37-40Mph.
Rugby Road (between 3 pots and Sketchley Road 40Mph) 172 vehicles monitored, 3 speeding between 47Mph-48Mph
Herald Way, 45 vehicles monitored. 0 Speeding.

Take care and thank you. Darren.
