Dear South Leicester Resident,

Appeal for dashcam footage of Aylestone collision

Officers from the force’s Roads Policing Unit (RPU) are appealing for dashcam footage after a cyclist was knocked off his bike this morning (Monday 17 January).

The incident happened on the pedestrian crossing of the junction between Aylestone Road and Middleton Street at around 7.30am. The cyclist – a man in his 20s – was struck by a white van.

The cyclist was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries. He is in a stable condition. At time of writing, no-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

PC Liam Street, from the RPU, said: “This incident happened on a main route in and out of the city at a time when people will have been going to work or school. I’d like to speak to any motorists who captured the collision on a dashcam or who saw what happened.

“Any details you have could help my investigation.”
