VRM Plates More Stop Search Arrest Visits And Members (Leicestershire Police)

Hello,

It has been a fairly good week since we had the issues with vehicle crime last week. Hopefully some of the work done has deterred the criminals. No reported residential burglaries or vehicle thefts.

Two incidents of theft of vehicle registration plates. One incident occurred around 20:40 on the 22nd of March around the location of Coventry Road and the other set were taken from a vehicle on the 23rd onto the 24th on Rugby Road. Victims vehicles were a Mercedes and Toyota.

I do have some anti-theft screws available for £1 per pack if you would like any.

Stop searches at locations including Sapcote Road and Duport Road at 03:30 and 03:00. One arrest made. Hopefully this continues to give you reassurance that officers are out there overnight.

We have been made aware of two newly planted trees being damaged on Grove park. Please get in touch if you have any information as to who may have done this. There have been previous issues around the village when trees are planted. A real shame that the minority choose to behave in this manner. On the subject of mindless vandalism, we are also completing some work around a resident’s fence panels being kicked in. Hopeful of getting a positive result but please get in touch if you have any information that may help. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk

We have attended the Burbage guides group at the Millennium Hall to talk about internet safety, stranger danger and general other subjects. It was a pleasure to talk about so many issues and get lots of questions. These types of talks hopefully educate our next generation of residents to keep safe and stay out of trouble. The time flew by and hopefully they all enjoyed it.

Several residents have been in touch regarding suspicious persons and vehicles. Thank you for contacting us, although many of them turned out to be no issues, it is great that you are keeping a look out as this information could be key.

We have also been spending time working with DPD, LCC Highways and traffic to try and put a resolution in place to stop HGV’s from entering the estate in the Hansom Cab area. It is a dead end and there is no access to DPD. Hopefully there will be a solution very soon. DPD already have a red zone for this area where drivers can get in a lot of trouble with their employer for using the road.
