Ring containing ashes of victim’s father stolen in burglary

A burglary victim has been left ‘heartbroken’ after a ring containing their father’s ashes was stolen.

The irreplaceable ring was among several items taken in a burglary at a home in Chestnut Road, Glenfield, earlier this month.

Intruders entered the property some time between 1.30am and 8am on Thursday, June 10, and took cash, a laptop, a pair of headphones and the ring.

The piece was of “great sentimental value” and its loss had been “heart-breaking” for the victim, Leicestershire Police said.

Officers are pleading with anyone who is offered the ring for sale to call them so they can reunite it with its owner.

Pc Gareth Smith said: “This was a heart-breaking incident and we are extremely keen to return this ring to the owner.

“If you have seen the ring offered for sale or have any information that could help us, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information about the burglary or any of the items that were taken is asked to call the police on 101 quoting reference number 21*320890.
