Plan set to improve local football facilities

The Borough Council has been involved in a two year project making plans which will help to improve community football facilities across England.

‘The Local Football Facility Plans’ have been completed for the first time following a partnership of local clubs, schools, councils, the Football Foundation and Football Association.

The aim of the Plans are to invest and build football facilities at community level and the benefits of the facilities set out go far beyond the pitch. They aim to transform communities and change lives for the better. It will mean people will have the opportunity to play the national game and both physical and mental health can be improved, communities can grow stronger and young people become more empowered.

The Football Foundation said: “It’s been a real team effort and we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s local knowledge and expertise”.

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is now working with local partners to implement the plan, which can be found on the Football Foundation’s website (footballfoundation.org)

Executive Member for Leisure, Councillor Keith Nichols said:

This is an exciting plan to help improve existing facilities and build new targeted facilities in the borough. Putting this plan together has been a real team effort and I would like to thank everyone involved. I look forward to seeing the Local Football Facility Plan develop and improve football facilities across Hinckley and Bosworth over the coming years.
