Parking complaints Phone Scams Road Safety and Keys

Hello.

Hope your all well and thank you for your ratings and feedback to our messages. They are all read and really appreciated.

No new reports of vehicle crime or residential burglary this week. No calls to 101/999 in Burbage relating to disorder following the Euro’s final defeat, so that’s a bit of good news and well done.

Please continue to be mindful around theft from gardens, sheds and vehicles. Lock your items away and keep them out of view.

A few messages to share with you that residents have requested I pass on, to raise awareness with others.

Flamville Road Parking

Concerns have been raised by residents regarding parking on Flamville Road. Concerns include double parking which could potentially lead to access problems for emergency vehicles, bin lorry not being able to enter (which has happened), difficulties for residents getting in and out and safety concerns for pedestrians. Ultimately if vehicles keep get left on junctions or in potentially dangerous places and residents complain to LCC, then double yellow lines could be considered which would leave a lack of parking space for all. We ask that vehicles are parked in a safe and considerate manner. I think this could be said for many other locations.

Please take a look at the LCC highways new page for more information. https://leicestershirehighways.org.uk/ or continue to keep reporting via https://www.fixmystreet.com/?pwa

NI number phone call Scam

“Just thought I’d make you aware of a phone call I had recently, it was an automated voice message, claiming to be from the crime investigation team, telling me that my national insurance number is going to be suspended unless I pressed the relevant number to speak to an officer, apparently my national insurance number had been investigated and they were suspending it. I didn’t press the number and the call became disconnected. I called the number back but it did not connect to anything the number is 07436 30*****. It really alarmed me as I’m now concerned that my personal details are being used.”

Road Safety Windsor Street

“As a cyclist or motorist Windsor Street Burbage is a nightmare…
We ride a lot down that road and we often give way as we are meant to as its respectful and the Highway Code, especially if the obstruction is on our side. This week we have been dangerously overtaken several times, with no to little room and even a lorry played chicken with us leaving us no room to go anywhere… Unfortunately this is a regular occurrence and is endangering our lives driving like this.
We cannot ride in the pot holes or where the drains are as that is more unsafe, as every bump could throw us off into traffic, especially considering how busy that road can be sometimes, the second rider is meant to be staggered further out as a shadow. We have to ride where a car’s first wheels would go.
Please if you are over taking cyclists, choose a safe place to do so and please leave enough room. The last thing we want is to end up hit by a car or under someone’s wheels. Also if we are turning please don’t overtake us, this is incredibly dangerous and most of all please don’t beep your horn at us, it’s totally unnecessary and we will just ride slower as we get flustered… we have every right to ride on the road as a car does.”
